What to wear at hospital--nursing gown or pj bottoms and nursing top?

okay, which one has worked best for you all. I know we get checked to make sure we are healing okay so I didn't know if pajama bottoms would work or if I should have a nightgown? I havn't liked what I wore in the past so was looking for some advice.

I would just wear the hospital clothing. That way you won't ruin your own clothes and you'll have less laundry! If you have to wear your own close I would just wear a gown without bottoms just to avoid ruining them. Unless of course you are really cold or uncomfortable in just a gown, then PJ bottoms would be fine.

Bring both the outfits and that way you can always decide which one you feel like when you are there, and if one doesn't work you can change into the other.

I'd take a nightgown just in case you end up with a c-section, but I'd also take some roomy pj pants and a nursing top. My favorite nursing top of all time is the Bravado Essential Nursing Tank. It is just soooo comfortable and pretty! I didn't get to change clothes until the next day, and by that time they weren't checking as often (if at all?) to make sure I was healing. You'll probably wear the gown for a while, because they don't let you jump right in the shower after the birth. After I took my shower I switched to my pj pants and was comfortable for visitors.

Check out the Bravado tanks though. They are awesome! Link is below.

I took a nursing night gown and I am SO glad i went with this. I had to change my pad about every hour and I tore from here to yonder so I was WAY to sore to keep my legs open without taking off the pants. Also the nurses kept having to check my stitches and the gown and wonderful disposable, tear off hospital panties helped SO much!! Ow, I can't believe I am going to do that all over again in a few short months!!!

Take both! I was only checked for healing once per day and always at the same time. So wear the gown close to the time you'll be checked and then wear pants the other 23 hours. What did you wear the last time when you weren't comfy?

I wore the hospital gown fom the time I got to the hospital till about 5 hrs after delivery. Then I switched to ..nursing bra, big comfy shirt and big comfy yoga type pants.

I gave it a few hours til I knew they wouldn't come in as often to check me. But I would have wore a night gown but I couldn't find one I really liked.

Good Luck hun, and Congrats!

I wore pj bottoms and a nursing top and I had a vaginal delivery, but the nurses needed to keep checking me because I had an episiotomy so I had to keep taking my pants on and off... so maybe do a night gown just to avoid having to do that.

Really, whatever you're most comfortable in. For me, the nightgown worked best because nurses kept coming in every few hours and needed to lift the gown up to check my stomach and turn me over and check my back side.

Nightgown and pj bottoms to the hospital. That way if you need to you can just slip the bottoms off,but still be covered. Take a bathrobe also,if you want. Hospitals can get kinda cold sometimes.

i wore the hospital gown and brought my robe it was really convenient to me, i had a c-section and i tried putting on my pj pants but it was too tight against my incision

i had a c-section so i never had to worry about the checking me down there they were just looking at my stomach. i wore sweats and a t-shirt. nothing to tight but loose fitting clothing.

if your having vaginally though id think a nightgown

Gown....and you don't have to buy expensive nursing gowns if you don't want to. You can buy gowns that zip from Wal Mart, Sears, Macy's, etc.

I wore the hospital nursing gown, and I had a nice black modest robe for when visitors came. Black is good in case blood gets on it.

I wore pajama bottoms and nursing top, I had a vaginal so after the first couple of hours they just checked my belly.

Hope it helps!

I wore a long cotton skirt with an elastic waist band. I had a c-section, it was the most comfortable thing.
